Our first collection in particular was a product of creative enthusiasm, and a willingness of everyone involved to say, “sure,” or “sounds fun,” or some variation or combination of those things. We are grateful for (and excited about!) anyone who resonates with what we’re doing, but we’re especially grateful for those who allowed us to be their creative outlet, and who donated their time and talents.

Alannah Travers is a British-German journalist, based in Iraq between 2021 and 2023. She grew up in Devon, south-west England, and has since lived in Durham, London, and Berlin. Her work focuses on politics, personal stories and the human impact of a heating climate in the Middle East, and she will continue to focus on the wider region—especially as it relates to climate change, young people, and security.

Alayna has been working as a Labor and Delivery nurse in Lexington, KY for seven years after receiving her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Eastern Kentucky University in 2016. She is married to Jacob and mom to a three-year-old, Maya. Alayna grew up in a missionary family in the Philippines, where she lived for thirteen years.

Ashley Castorena is from Louisville, Kentucky, but has made her home in Lexington over the last five years. She recently completed her Master of Public Administration and Policy and is passionate about economic development and community revitalization. She is the the Cofounder and Marketing Director of Ethel Magazine.

Barbara has practiced private psychotherapy for over 40 years. Her memoir, “Finding Ben: A Mother’s Journey Through the Maze of Asperger’s,” was published in 2003. She’s also written personal essays, children’s books, and two longform memoirs about the loss of her husband and son. She loves to dance, exercise, play with her grandkids, and enjoy her friendships.

Megan Joslin is pursuing her Masters of Arts in Theological Studies with a focus in Biblical Studies at Portland Seminary through George Fox University. When she isn’t studying, she enjoys working as a sales associate at Anthropologie. For fun, Megan adopts the hobbies of a wannabe homesteader—knitting, canning, gardening. She lives in Lexington, KY with her French Bulldog, Rosie, and her husband, Jeren.
